A friend was over while I was drawing the design for this piece. She said it reminded her of a fox. So that's what I named it. (Here's a blog post behind the scenes of how this piece was made.)
The stones are Brazilian agate. The upper right corner of the larger stone is left raw, rather like the fur of a fox. A deep red garnet finishes the piece at the bottom.
The pendant is large, it's about 3 1/4 inches tall by 2 1/4 wide. It is suspended on a 30" sterling silver adjustable snake chain. You can make the chain shorter by moving the sterling balls.
“I did not want to think about people. I wanted the trees, the scents and colors, the shifting shadows of the wood, which spoke a language I understood. I wished I could simply disappear in it, live like a bird or a fox through the winter, and leave the things I had glimpsed to resolve themselves without me.” - Patricia A. McKillip, Winter Rose
