I was juried into the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art Holiday Show a couple of weekends ago and I thought it'd be fun to show you a few of the pre-show prep things that happen.
I wanted my earrings to be on a dark background instead of the cream color I had been using. I also wanted my logo printed on the back. I took my design to our local print shop, Ely Design Works, and had them printed.
Here's Rae cutting my earring cards.
I love hanging out in places like the print shop. Rae's dog wouldn't sit still long enough for me to get a good photo. Fun, anyway.
I like the tailings of creativity. Here's a little corner of the desk where I was waiting. Studio spaces can be just as interesting as the finished work.
I loved how the earring cards turned out. My logo against a dark background is pretty spiffy.
My studio gets a bit messy in the preparation of getting to a show. I always do a few last minute things. This time it was earrings. I wanted to have a few new pairs to hang on those new earring cards.
Here are the settings on the soldering station.
I packed the car and headed to Madison on Thursday. Madison is about a seven hour drive to the north edge of the city if you don't stop anywhere on the way. Friday was set-up day and a couple of friends came by to help. I even got hot, just like setting up for an outdoor show. Maybe it's not the weather after all.
We were working hard, so I didn't get any photos mid-setup. Instead, here's my booth once it was all set up.
You see the room was pretty dark. I have some super bright lights that I attached to the top post of my shelves. Normally I'd attach them to the poles of my tent, but I didn't bring the tent structure to this show.
And that's a wrap for the 2017 show season!
