We had conditions up here that only happen once every 20 years or so. Usually we have snow while the ice is forming.
Our neighbors and friends turned out to have an afternoon of ice skating on our bay. I snapped a few photos. (I didn't skate, I don't bounce like I used to.)
My favorite photos are these next two. That's Mark pulling Fiona in the sled. The second photo is Raif. The difference between a dad and a brother!
Little ones learn to skate just about when they walk. They learn to ski even sooner.
This is called a kick sled. You put one foot on the runner and kick with the other. A passenger can ride.
That's our neighbor, Joe, riding his fat tire bike. This one has metal studs on the tires to grip ice and snow. He'll ride it when the lake has snow, too. (He's also our doctor.)
The lake is now covered in snow and I've been skiing. Our neighbors shoveled a little area to keep skating. Winter here is magic.
