Our neighbors are building a new house and invited a bunch of people over to help raise some of the timber frame structure.
They are using a combination of timber frame and conventional build techniques.
With many hands, the load isn't as heavy.
Below is Mark, our new neighbor and the architect of this amazing "installation art."
Mark and I have a lot in common as artists given that we both build objects that are sculptural in nature. His are livable, mine are wearable.
Both of our work comes down to millimeter precision. But I'm inspired and in awe that he somehow wrangles that precision on such a grand scale.
By the way, he also creates all of this lumber himself out of white pine trees. He has a sawmill at his shop. I've been watching him make the lumber for months.
Their hope is to finish the structure enough to live in it by mid December. I'll show you photos when it's finished.
