We took a weekend camping trip to chill out before my last big show of the season (which is Harvest Moon Festival in Ely). We chose a place where we could bring a few luxuries. This is what the boat looks like packed with luxuries.
Yes, we were able to fit the dog in the boat for the ride to our campsite. I brought along my little table so that we could cook standing up. That is a luxury for sure.
Tomatoes from our garden! Another luxury. When we have the "big" boat, we can pack a cooler which not only keeps some foodstuffs cool, it also protects things like tomatoes from getting smushed.
Here is our campfire.
Imagine sitting back with an evening cup of coffee with cream (YES! cream came along) listening to the fire crackle and hearing the loons call to each other.
We did a lot of fishing. On our way to finding a fishing hole we came across this waterfall.
It was like a fairy garden place. The moss on the rocks was vivid green, almost as if someone added paint. We caught enough fish to have a meal Saturday night. I hoped we would, so in preparation I made my secret Tom Kha sauce and also brought along a can of coconut milk.
I sauteed an onion in butter, added a chopped tomato, then poured in my sauce and let that sizzle about a minute to let everything get fragrant. Then I added the coconut milk. After that was simmering, I added the fish fillets and finished it with some fresh basil from our garden. Wow. That is luxury camping for sure!
Tansy finally crashed after chasing chipmunks all day.
Back at home Steve wanted a photo of his leeks. He is so excited that we can grow leeks up here. We have been using them for weekend omelets. He also requested potato leek soup. I'll make that soon.
